A DECADE OF ANGAT BUHAY. A DECADE OF BAYANIHAN. 🩷🇵🇭

On October 10, 2016, Angat Buhay was launched as the flagship anti-poverty program of the Office of the Vice President under the leadership of Atty. Leni Gerona Robredo.

Ten years later, Angat Buhay continues its work as a nonprofit organization, carrying forward its commitment to a more equitable and inclusive Philippines. As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead to 2027, when we mark our fifth year as a nonprofit organization.

Over the past decade, our work alongside communities has deepened our understanding of poverty and inequality. We have learned that lasting change requires more than responding to immediate needs. It means addressing the structural barriers that limit access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, and opportunities, while strengthening the capacities of communities to shape their own development.

These lessons have shaped how we design programs, build partnerships, and uphold our commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centered development.

Our journey has not been without challenges. We have navigated difficult transitions, responded to crises, learned from our shortcomings, and faced moments that tested our resolve. Through these experiences, we have come to understand that lasting change is a long game. It requires patience, consistency, and the willingness to keep building, even when progress takes time.

We are deeply grateful to the communities, volunteers, partners, development workers, and public servants who have carried this mission forward. Every milestone reflects the collective efforts of people who believe that a better future is something we build together.

As we mark ten years of Angat Buhay, we recognize how much remains to be done. But the challenges we face only strengthen our resolve to continue the work.
