FREE EYE CHECK UP AND PRESCRIPTION GLASSES FOR OUR LEARNERS
In many underserved communities, eye care is often overlooked, especially for young children. When vision problems go undetected, they affect not only a child’s academic performance but also their overall development and confidence.
To help address this,
#AngatBuhay and Legazpi Eye Center partnered to conduct early visual screenings for elementary learners enrolled in our literacy program, Bayan Ko, Titser Ko (BKTK) in Naga City. Through this initiative, school-based visual screening is done to identify learners with visual impairments. These children then receive free eye checkups—and those with vision difficulties are provided with free prescription eyeglasses.
As we help struggling learners learn how to read, we also support their health and nourishment through BKTK’s Nutrition component, which addresses students’ nutritional needs and strengthens the literacy interventions already in place.
By helping children read better, ensuring they have proper nutrition, and giving them access to essential eye care, we give them a stronger foundation to learn, to grow, and to believe in their own abilities.
